Prepare to be a piano champion?
This program is open to anyone who wants to undertake a piano challenge. The aim of this program is to develop further the player's repertoire, technique (including physical aspects) and creativity. Students who enrol, will receive up to twelve hours of group/individual support while they are learning to play pieces of music that they have selected. At the end of the program the students will perform their pieces and receive feedback from our teaching team.
The program consists of three parts:
The first part (The Piano Challenge) is for students who are seeking support while learning their piano repertoire. At the end of the program, students should be able to perform their pieces in accordance with the wishes of the composer. Students will have the opportunity to meet a variety of piano professors from our teaching team at the Piano Study Centre. This will
widen student's understanding of the music itself from different perspectives, thus developing their independence of decision making.
The second part (The Developmental Challenge) focuses on the physical parameters that greatly affect the performance. For instance, the performer's ability to project and release correctly, while they are playing, will influence the quality of the tone produced.
The third part (The Creativity Challenge) develops the student's ability to re-create their pieces of music, but in a way that doesn't leave behind the essential identity of the music.
Three levels are available:
Beginner (Grade 1-3)
Intermediate (Grade 4-6)
Advanced (Grade 6 and above)
You will be advised by the course tutor which group would be appropriate for you at enrolment.
